Presentation Details:
Seeing is believing. This story begins with a penetration test that revealed many weaknesses among the staff. The Information Security team determined to improve the employees’ security awareness by bringing awareness issues to life and making the whole organization “members” of the security team. The new approach to awareness included special events, gamification, creative branding and messaging using multiple mediums to appeal to the senses while spending very little money by utilizing resources within the company in collaboration with several departments across the organization. The results of our efforts became apparent by the response to the program and subsequent penetration tests where great improvements were noted.
Changing Culture - How doing something unexpected tripled user engagement and made security awareness interesting to the end user which made a measurable impact on the company's security culture.
Little Budget/ Big Impact - utilizing resources on hand and creativity to reach users and educate them through attention grabbing messages and live events.
Collaboration Success Story - the importance of partnering with other departments within the business to garner support, involvement, and assistance. Creative ways to include departments outside of Information Security to broaden and enhance awareness efforts.
