April 2022 Monthly ISC2RVA Chapter Meeting

Speakers - Michael French & Stuart Voncanon, at the Federal Bureau of Investigation


Bio: Special Agent Michael P. French has been with the Federal Bureau of Investigation since 2004. He was initially assigned to the Washington, DC field office where he worked a variety of computer crimes including cyber enabled fraud schemes, theft of intellectual property, and online exploitation of children. In 2010, he transferred to the Richmond, Virginia field office where he continued to investigate cyber crimes including criminal and national security computer intrusion cases as well as online child exploitation. In February 2015, he was promoted to a Supervisory Special Agent at the FBI’s Cyber Division in Washington, DC where he supervised national security computer intrusion cases perpetrated by nation state actors that are investigated by field offices across the country. He also worked regularly with multiple agencies within the US Intelligence community as well as many foreign intelligence partners. In August 2016, he returned to the Richmond FBI office where he continues to investigate all manner of computer crimes. SA French is a member of the Cyber Action Team which deploys to large scale computer intrusion investigations as well as the Child Abduction Rapid Deployment team which assists with missing child investigations throughout the US.

Stuart VonCanon is a Detective with the Henrico County Police Division who is currently assigned to the FBI Richmond Cyber Task Force.  As a member of the Task Force Stuart is responsible for the investigation of cyber-crime matters on the State and Federal level, including: computer intrusions, intellectual property rights infringements, theft of trade secrets, wire fraud, and the use of computer networks to facilitate such schemes.  Stuart is also a subject matter expert in the investigation and tracking of virtual currency.  He joined Henrico Police in 2011 and has been assigned to the Cyber Task Force since 2015.

Chapter Members that hold a (ISC)2 certification will received up to two CPE for attendance. You must register in the Zoom meeting using your full name to be eligible for CPE credits. Your membership account must also have your correct (ISC)2 certification ID to be awarded the CPE credits.
