Speaker - Dr. David Raymond from the Virginia Cyber Range

Topic: The Commonwealth of Virginia is leading the nation in cybersecurity education in higher ed, and especially in K12. The Virginia Cyber Range is a big part of that. Our Cyber Range is supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia and it is the only fully-funded, state-wide cyber range in the country. We provide infrastructure and courseware to support hands-on cybersecurity education in Virginia’s public high schools and colleges. In this session, I will give an overview of the Virginia Cyber Range and the resources that are available to educators and students through our platform. I will also give a brief demonstration of the kinds of hands-on labs and exercises available in the range, and introduce participants to our integrated Capture the Flag (CTF) platform. You’ll even have an opportunity to test your cybersecurity skills, and challenge your peers, in a CTF competition hosted in the range! For a preview, see https://virginiacyberrange.org. 

Bio:  Dr. David Raymond is the Director of the Virginia Cyber Range. He has operational cybersecurity experience both in the Department of Defense and in higher education. He has taught cybersecurity to undergraduates at West Point, to graduate students at Virginia Tech, and to industry professionals at Black Hat. David has a B.S. in Computer Science from West Point, a Masters in C.S. from Duke University, and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech, as well as CISSP, CEH, and several other security certifications.

Chapter Members that hold a (ISC)2 certification will received up to two CPE for attendance. You must register in the Zoom meeting using your full name to be eligible for CPE credits. Your registration and membership account must also have your correct (ISC)2 certification ID to be awarded the CPE credits.
