Speaker: Benjamin Goo, CISSP

Topic: The Relationship Between Business Size and Risk

Summary:  Join us as we explore the relationship between the size of a business and their risk exposure rating. In 2022 as a part of his capstone thesis,  Benjamin Goo conducted a small study in order to determine the relationship between a publicly traded corporation's size and their risk. In order to complete this study, Benjamin developed an open source measure of risk, and then used this tool to evaluate a random sample of publicly traded businesses on the Fortune 500 ranking list. Join us this to explore both the methods used to create these open source measures of risk, and results of the study.

BIO:  Benjamin Goo works on the Chesterfield County Information Security Services Team, serves as the Treasurer of the ISC2RVA chapter and also as the President of The Resource Ministry Database (An organization he helped start that works to help different charities and churches integrate technology into their operations). Benjamin received his Masters in Business Administration from Aurora University in 2022 and his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from UC Santa Cruz in 2007.  He has worked in the technology sector field for 15+ years and has held and maintains multiple certifications including, MCSE, MCITP, Network+, Security+, and the CISSP.

Prior to working in his current positions, Benjamin managed all of the IT operations for North, Central and South America at the International Rescue Committee and before this he managed all of the East Coast IT operations for the country's second largest lobby firm. Benjamin and his wife live in Moseley, VA on a 72 acre horse ranch with their daughter, dogs and other animals.
