Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to fill the Information Security Analyst position. This position will assist to maintain the agency's IT security program in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia IT Security policies and standards. To help support the Division of Data, Research and Technology and the school divisions in security planning and new system security implementation.

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge and experience with State of VA Information Security Policy and process.

Demonstrated ability to document processes.

Knowledge of operating system vulnerabilities.

Knowledge of network architecture and interfaces.

Knowledge of coding vulnerabilities.

Experience with Veracode or other code scans.

Understanding of Web Application Firewalls.

Knowledge of Tenable or other Vulnerability scans.

Comprehensive knowledge of a SIEM tools.

Knowledge of investigation and monitoring logs.

Comprehensive knowledge of cloud security.

Assist with audit requirements.

Considerable experience working in information technology, security or a related field.

Previous experience as an information security analyst or related position.

Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral communications.

Knowledge of aspects of information security in the public education setting.

Knowledge of FERPA regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

College degree in information systems, computer science, or related field or demonstrated progressively responsible experience in information security.

Considerable knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia IT Security policies and standards.

Information Security Industry certifications, such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA Security+, or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) are highly desirable.
