Job Description:
The Virginia Department of the Treasury is committed to serving the Commonwealth by effectively managing its banking, investing, and financing services and administering unclaimed property and insurance programs.
Are you an experienced and proactive cybersecurity leader ready to safeguard critical financial data and systems? The Virginia Department of the Treasury seeks an Information Security Officer (ISO) to oversee its information security program. This crucial role ensures the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of the department's systems and data, protecting the Commonwealth's financial infrastructure.
As the Information Security Officer, you will develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive information security program that complies with state and federal regulations. You will collaborate closely with executive leadership, IT, and operational teams to establish robust security policies and frameworks and address emerging cyber threats.

Minimum Qualifications:
The selected candidate will at least possess the following qualifications:
- · Extensive experience leading and managing an organization’s information security strategy and operations.
- · Proficient in developing and enforcing security policies, standards, and protocols.
- · Skilled in conducting risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and audits to identify potential security risks.
- · Proven track record in implementing security awareness programs to educate staff on best practices.
- · Experienced in monitoring security incidents, investigating breaches, and recommending corrective actions.
- · Strong ability to collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- · Continuously staying updated on emerging security trends and technologies to address risks proactively.
- Ability to communicate in formal and casual situations via written and verbal communication.
- Broad technical knowledge, including networking, systems, applications, and cloud.
Preferred Qualifications:
· A combination of training, experience, or education in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field desired.
· Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) policies, standards, and regulations a plus.
· Possession of a recognized professional IT Security Certification (i.e. CISSP, CISM, CISA, SANS) is also strongly desired.
